SUZANNE D'CORSEY (Gallery Director) fell in love with the theatre when she worked as a stage-manager in a lively community playhouse during her teenage years in Texas. Although she has enjoyed other professions, the theatre never relinquished its hold, and in the year 2000 her full-length play RAGNAROK launched her as a playwright, when it took a national prize for a summer festival, and went on to received an Honorable Mention in the 2001 Jane Chambers Award, and inclusion in Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee Research Institute’s “Sisters: New Work from the International Centre for Women Playwrights.” More plays followed, produced in Repertory Theatre. A commissioned radio play “Stormchasers,” was broadcast live on NPR, and short plays and monologues have been produced at festivals and other venues. From community theatre to Universities to Performing Arts Centers, Suzanne has enjoyed working with a variety of theatrical venues. She was a Tennessee Williams Scholar at the Sewanee Writers’ Conference 2003, and is a member of the International Centre for Women Playwrights, Inc. She earned an MA Honours in Medieval and Scottish History from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland, 1982. Suzanne feels very fortunate to be a part of the vibrant Hooker-Dunham Theater and Gallery, with its exceptional Director, Barry Stockwell, the team of dedicated volunteers, and its central role in the dynamic Brattleboro area arts community.
