AN EXCEPTIONAL MULTIMEDIA ARTS VENUE
The Hooker-Dunham Theater & Gallery is committed to inspiring personal and community transformation through the interplay of artists and the community.
One floor below street level, a former shoe warehouse is one of the Brattleboro area's most active and diverse centers for arts, culture, and public gatherings. Vermont Business Magazine cited the Hooker-Dunham Theater & Gallery as "a driving force in downtown Brattleboro's revitalization".
In January of 1999, Wild Root Arts took over management of a 3,000 square-foot space in downtown Brattleboro's historic Hooker-Dunham block and transformed it into a place where the visual and performing arts and their enthusiasts can come together for the enrichment of both. In February of 2007 Twilight Music took up management of the unique gallery and theater space and under the guidance of manager Barry Stockwell continues to develop its use for visual and performing arts. An eclectic variety of music, spoken word, and live theater performances are featured year-round. HDT&G currently hosts the only regularly scheduled comedy series in Brattleboro; in late 2007 Twilight Music began to present monthly stand-up comedy acts that continue to grow in popularity.
In addition to Twilight Music productions the HDT&G invites the public to rent the theater and gallery for arts events including live theater, film, music, exhibits, benefits, meetings, private parties, and other gatherings, and Twilight Music continues to present its own series of music, theater, and comedy. We are also pleased to host events during the annual Brattleboro Literary Festival and Brattleboro Women's Film Festival.
Since the founding of the H-DT&G thousands of visitors have attended events and countless gallery exhibits and theater performances have been enjoyed by appreciative arts-lovers.
Join us "through the alley and down the stairs" for an arts experience you will find nowhere else.
